Easy Ways to Stage Your Home to Sell

Easy Ways to Stage Your Home to Sell

Here are four easy tips to stage your home to make it more attractive to home buyers. You don’t need a lot of money or time, just a little bit of planning.

#1 Ditch the clutter

When home buyers tour your home, they want to picture themselves there easily. If your house is cluttered or disorganized, it makes it that much harder to imagine. Plus, disorganization doesn’t paint your home in the best light either! So give yourself plenty of time to organize and declutter before taking listing photos or showing your home.

#2 Lighting is everything

Never underestimate what a difference good lighting can make. Adequate and proper lighting will make your home look warm and inviting. So how do you light your home? As a rule of thumb, for every 50 square feet, you’ll want to have 100 watts total. Fill each room with with a variety of light fixtures and lamps as well as types – ambient, task, and accent.

#3 Dress up the bedroom

If your bed is in rough condition and you’re not in the market for a new one, don’t fret! One money-saving trick is to find an inexpensive frame and use an air mattress. Cover it with neutral bedding and no one needs to know! Did we mention the importance of decluttering yet? Clean out storage areas like closets since ample storage tends to be important to many buyers.

#4 Avoid overcrowding

Find the sweet spot for your furniture based on room size. Of course, furniture shouldn’t overcrowd a room. On the other hand, a room that feels empty can be problematic, too.
